October autumn feeling
Do you feel that change upcoming? The weather is changing all the time, it’s raining, starting to get cold from time to time and then all of a sudden temperature is back up to 20degrees Celsius. leaves are starting to colour into reds, yellow, brown. Indian summer is gone and autumn is there.
Autumn- season of metal lung and large intestine. It’s the time of the year were we don’t know how to dress and get common cold (ganmao in chinese), sinusitis, running nose, cough. or we slip in the rain and strain a muscle. In terms of emotions we might get a bit gloomy and sad.
In order to enjoy autumn I usually go for a long walk in the park or at the seaside on weekends, enjoy warm baths/shower/sauna/hammam, try sleeping earlier during the week, eat warm soups in the evening and have a raw coco drink if I feel tired in the afternoon. Equally important is of course to dress adequately: layers of clothes so that when it’s too warm, I don’t have to overheat and I can take off some clothes and vice versa when it’s suddenly rainy and chilly. Tips for boosting your immune system:
Food: eat seasonal fruits, nuts and veggies like apples, pears, chestnuts, walnuts, mushrooms, pumpkin. Have chicken or mushroom broth more often or eat a sesame congee from time to time. drink warm: tea, coco, ginger, cinnamon, chai spice, liquorice
